December 23, 2016The Stern Show welcomed an incredible lineup of musical guests in 2016, from up-and-coming pop stars to unquestionable rock legends. This year’s slate of musical masters performed a smattering of spectacular songs, including new singles, chart-topping classics, and several Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, and Beatles covers. Take a look back at the year in musical guests:
Peter Frampton
In March the classic rock legend chatted with Howard before performing a Beatles cover, as well as one of his own classics.
Chris Martin
The Coldplay frontman spoke to Howard about performing in the Super Bowl Halftime Show, and then covered a David Bowie classic.
Cheap Trick
The band stopped by in April to celebrate its long-deserved Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. Stern Show listeners were also treated to live performances of two of the band’s hits.
Graham Nash
The iconic rocker performed several hits during his April visit ahead of a Howard 101 special, including “Our House.”
Meghan Trainor
The young pop star performed “All About That Bass” during her debut in May.
Steve Miller
The longtime rocker performed a medley of his hits in June, including “The Joker” and “Gangster of Love,” after being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Train
The band stopped by in June to play songs off its new cover album, “Train Does Led Zeppelin II.” This led Howard to dare the band’s drummer to attempt the solo from “Moby Dick.”
Aurora
The 20-year-old Norwegian singer-songwriter visited the show in July and talked dead moths before covering a David Bowie classic.
Metallica
The legendary metal band performed “Sad but True,” “Master of Puppets,” and its new single “Hardwired” in September, ahead of the release of its new album.
Green Day
In October, the iconic punk rock band returned to the Stern Show and performed “Welcome to Paradise,” “Holiday,” and its new single “Bang Bang.”
Lady Gaga
The returning Stern Show guest revealed in October that she was once in a Led Zeppelin cover band … and then she proved it.
Jon Bon Jovi
The New Jersey-born rock star returned to the show in October and performed “Runaway” for Howard.
Sting
The legendary solo artist and Police frontman performed a new tune and several classics in November, including “Message in a Bottle.”
