VIDEO: Hear Neil Young’s New Protest Song, ‘Indian Giver’
The legendary rocker released the tune as a condemnation of the Dakota Access Pipeline
September 22, 2016When legendary rocker and Stern Show guest Neil Young writes a new song, he rarely keeps it to himself for long. With 36 studio albums under his belt (and five in the last four years alone), he still creates with insane frequency and has never been shy about his world views. On that note, Neil just released an unexpected new protest song, “Indian Givers,” about the Dakota Access Pipeline currently under construction in Native American Territory.
“Behind big money justice always fails,” sings Neil. “Our brothers and sisters have to take a stand.”
The video combines footage of Neil singing the tune in his car with shots of protesters and the pipeline’s construction. “Indian Giver” is Neil’s second pipeline protest tune, after releasing “Who’s Gonna Stand Up” in 2014, which focused on the Keystone XL.
