There’s a Campaign to Build a David Bowie Memorial Statue in London
The "Aladdin Sane" lightning bolt would appear five blocks from the late singer's birthplace

Just over a year after David Bowie’s death, a group of London designers are aiming to pay tribute to the music legend via a memorial statue in Brixton. The piece would depict Bowie’s lightning bolt tattoo from the cover of his 1973 album “Aladdin Sane.” The massive bolt (above) would stand 30 feet high and be installed in the pavement next to the Brixton underground station, a location chosen due to its proximity to another Bowie tribute: artist Jimmy C’s “Aladdin Sane” mural. The Brixton station is also five streets away from Bowie’s birthplace on Stansfield Road. Check out the project’s video pitch (below).
Crowdfunding is currently underway for the memorial, which has obtained £32,040 of its £990,000 target. You can contribute to the cause here.
