Howard continued to go over the guest list, including Kristin Bell and Dax Shephard, Emily Blunt and John Kraszinski, Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg their wives–and Garry Shandling, who scanned the room while talking with Howard, passively stoking the conversation: “Interested, interested. Keep going.”

Howard gave special mention to Breckin Meyer, the unexpected star of the party’s jam session: “That guy is an accomplished drummer.”
