‘Client 9’ Hits the Fan
Howard started off the show saying he’d previously supported New York Governor, Eliot Spitzer, but, given the Governor’s little prostitution problem, he was excited by the possibility of having Eliot’s lieutenant governor take over, as he’s both black and blind. Robin agreed, saying she was giddy yesterday as the story developed. Howard couldn’t understand why Eliot would pay so much ($4300) for a prostitute – or why Eliot was in legal trouble. Robin explained that Eliot might’ve violated some kind of tax regulation. Howard said Eliot was just a man like anyone else, but he messed up by exposing himself – as a hypocrite and to potential blackmailers. Adding that the fact that the governor’s office could’ve been compromised outweighs any understanding he might otherwise deserve. Howard wondered how Eliot got his wife to stand next to him at the podium when he apologized, adding that Eliot will have a much harder time earning back his daughters’ trust and support.
