Dr. Agus’s prognosis was ultimately a hopeful one. “Over the next couple weeks we’re
going to start to see declines because we’re fighting back,” he told Howard and co-host Robin Quivers on
Tuesday, though he also admitted the situation will probably get a little worse
in the short term before it plateaus and then eventually gets better.
“When we see this country open in May, it’s going to be said
everybody needs to wear a mask when they go out,” Dr. Agus continued, explaining
face masks help prevent the spread of potentially harmful “droplets” of breath
from people infected by the virus.
Howard was shocked his guest believed America might begin to rebound so quickly. “So, you think the country
is going to get back up on its feet in May?” he asked.
“I have faith in all of us that we’re going
to do the right thing to get to where we need to be. I’m an optimist. I really
am,” Dr. Agus assured him.
