Ronnie ‘the Limo Driver’ Mund Tackles COVID-19 in His Latest Poem
“It really poured out of me,” Howard’s head of security explains of his new masterpiece
June 24, 2020
Ronnie “the Limo Driver” Mund is no stranger to poetry, having put pen to paper on everything from the winter to Stern Show staffer JD Harmeyer’s wedding. But down in the dumps thanks to the isolation of quarantine, he has found new inspiration.
“I wrote this poem in about 10 fucking minutes yesterday,” Ronnie said of his latest work, appropriately titled “The Virus.” “It really poured out of me … I wrote the first words and it just clicked right after that and it just kept going.”
Read Ronnie’s complete poem (below).
The Virus
You wake up and your throat is sore You don’t think anything of it and you go out the door Onto the bus and subway for the journey that takes you to your work on the 36th floor By now your chest feels heavy and your breathing becomes a bit of a chore You begin to sweat and feel as if you have a temperature of 104 Now over to the boss’s door to tell him I can’t work anymore At that point you fall on the floor, gasping for air you know you’re probably done for Into an ambulance and taken away Two weeks later I wake up “What happened to me?” I say COVID-19 ruined your day.
