VIDEO: Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson Track a Killer in New ‘Spiral: From the Book of Saw’ Trailer
Comedian and recent Stern Show guest executive produces the May 14 thriller
March 30, 2021The hunters become the hunted in a new pulse-pounding trailer for Stern Show veterans Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson’s upcoming thriller “Spiral: From the Book of Saw.”
A spinoff of the long-running “Saw” horror franchise, “Spiral” follows Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) as they investigate a grisly string of deaths. After realizing their city’s latest serial killer is following in the footsteps of Jigsaw—the deranged villain from the “Saw” films—they enlist the help of an esteemed veteran officer (Jackson) who also happens to be Detective Banks’ father.
“A Jigsaw copycat. This is going to go sideways fast,” Jackson’s character predicts (above) over a montage of twisted hijinks.
“I need everyone on this case,” Rock’s character adds as the mysterious killer starts to turn the tables on the cops. “He could be anyone.”
Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and written by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger, “Spiral” also stars Marisol Nichols and Zoie Palmer. The original “Saw” team Mark Burg and Oren Koules produced the film along with Rock himself.
The legendary actor and comedian last visited the Stern Show in September, sitting down with Howard for a wide-ranging conversation covering everything from Rock’s latest film and TV projects to his tumultuous upbringing and what dating is like in 2021. “Raya is like a human slot machine,” Chris said of the popular singles app. “And you’re just like, ‘Come on, Aces.’” Watch a clip from the interview (below) and check out his full interview with Howard here.
“Spiral: From the Book of Saw” opens May 14.
