VIDEO: Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson Hunt a Cop-Killing Psycho in ‘Saw’ Spinoff ‘Spiral’
Stern Show veterans’ May 15 thriller co-stars Max Minghella and Marisol Nichols
February 5, 2020A sadistic criminal mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice and Stern Show veterans Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson are two of the only people who can stop him in the gruesome “Saw” spinoff “Spiral,” arriving in May.
The new teaser kicks off lighthearted enough as Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) cruise around town talking about their relationship woes. “You can give a woman 600 Tuesdays, it ain’t worth three Saturday nights,” Chris jokes (above).
But everything changes when they catch a bizarre case involving a downed officer and some grisly murders connected to their city’s dark past. After teaming with an esteemed police veteran played by Jackson, the group quickly finds itself at the center of the killer’s morbid game. It isn’t long before Rock wakes up handcuffed to a pipe and holding a hacksaw—a scenario which should feel all too familiar to fans of the “Saw” franchise.
“Spiral,” co-starring Marisol Nichols, Zoie Palmer, and Dan Petronijevic, is directed by “Saw” veteran Darren Lynn Bousman and written by Josh Stolberg, Pete Goldfinger, and Rock himself. 2020 is shaping up to be an interesting year for the actor and legendary comedian. In addition to starring in “Spiral” he can also be seen in Robert Zemeckis’ “The Witches” and playing an old-timey gangster on Season 4 of FX’s hit anthology drama “Fargo.”
“Spiral” opens May 15.
