Pearl Jam Releases Uncensored ‘Jeremy’ Music Video for the First Time

Pearl Jam just released the uncensored version of its acclaimed 1992 music video “Jeremy” for the very first time. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers uploaded the unedited, newly remastered clip to their YouTube channel on Friday to observe National Gun Violence Awareness Day.
“The ‘Jeremy’ video brought attention to gun violence, teen suicide, and violence in schools,” Pearl Jam wrote in an accompanying message. “The original uncensored video, previously unreleased, is being shown here for essentially the first time.”
“The themes … have sadly only become more relevant in the intervening 30 years as gun deaths continue to increase,” the Eddie Vedder-fronted grunge legends continued.
Mark Pellington directed the music video for “Jeremy,” a Grammy-nominated single hailing from Pearl Jam’s seminal 1991 album “Ten.” The edited version of the clip, which won Video of the Year at the 1993 MTV Video Music Awards, ends with the bullied character’s classmates covered in blood. In the newly released uncensored version, the suicide of Jeremy (played by actor Trevor Wilson) is even more heavily implied as the character is at one point shown putting a gun into his own mouth.
