VIDEO: Brandi Carlile and Dave Grohl Cover the Beatles’ ‘Let It Be’ in Surprise Seattle Street Concert
Past Stern Show guests’ busking set also includes Foo Fighters’ “Times Like These”
April 22, 2019Grammy-winning recording artists and past Stern Show guests Brandi Carlile and Dave Grohl took to the streets of Seattle on Saturday and wowed unsuspecting fans with a surprise busking set.
Armed only with acoustic guitars and their voices, the Foo Fighters frontman, the country music songstress, and her bandmates Tim and Phil Hanseroth delivered acoustic renditions of both the Beatles’ “Let It Be” and Foo Fighters’ “Times Like These.” The musicians reportedly performed for 15 to 20 minutes at the city’s Pike Place Market—a spot Brandi herself used to busk at before making it big.
Brandi later published a photo from the performance on her Instagram page, describing it as “one of the most surreal moments” of her life.
Dave and his Foo Fighters last joined the Stern Show in 2015, performing a live set in studio and sharing with Howard how many of their hits came to be. Brandi and her twin bandmates stopped by more recently in 2018. In addition to sitting down for a wide-ranging interview about their lives and careers, the trio delivered renditions of Brandi’s hit “The Joke” (below) and a cover of Crosby, Stills, and Nash’s “Helplessly Hoping.”
