Sheryl Crow & Joe Walsh Celebrate Crazy, Lazy, Wine-Filled ‘Good Old Days’ in New Music Video
“Still the Good Old Days” appears on Sheryl’s star-studded August album, “Threads”
June 17, 2019Sheryl Crow and fellow Stern Show guest Joe Walsh joined forces to write, record, and make a music video for “Still the Good Old Days,” a tune off her star-studded collaborative album “Threads,” out in August.
The upbeat track waxes nostalgic about crazy, lazy days filled with bad jokes, loud jokes, and expensive wine. The music video follows suit, spending most of its time on a cheerful Crow who bops around on a bass guitar and cruises down the road in a convertible with its top down. The clip also features footage from Crow and Walsh’s low-key recording session, during which the indomitable rock legend unleashes a monster guitar solo while seated.
On the same day she released their new song, Crow also unveiled the track listing for “Threads,” her 11th studio effort. Other big names lending their talents to the new album include past Stern Show guests Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris, Gary Clark Jr., James Taylor, Sting, and Willie Nelson as well as Stevie Nicks, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, Keith Richards, St. Vincent, and even the late Johnny Cash.
“I became inspired to record an album of musical experiences with the legacy artists who inspired me to want to be a great songwriter, musician, and producer,” Crow said in a statement. “It is a celebration with them, and a tribute to them. Just as importantly, I wanted to work with younger artists on this record, who I believe will pick up the torch and continue to light the way for humanity with their stories and their songs for many years to come. Their music inspires me every day.”
As Stern Show fans will remember, Sheryl stopped by the Stern Show in 2017 and opened up to Howard about her past interactions with a variety of other A-list artists, including the likes of Prince, Michael Jackson, and Fleetwood Mac. Walsh, meanwhile, last returned to the Stern Show this past November alongside Beatles legend and brother-in-law Ringo Starr. Joe opened up to Howard about his song writing process and revealed what goes into collaborating with other big-name artists, Ringo included. Check out a clip from their sit-down with Howard (below).
