Neil Young, Dave Matthews, John Mellencamp, and Willie Nelson to Headline Farm Aid 2019
Sept. 21 benefit festival also features Bonnie Raitt, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, and more
July 10, 2019Farm Aid has revealed its 2019 lineup and the headliners once again include Stern Show veterans Neil Young, Dave Matthews, John Mellencamp, and Willie Nelson.
The concert festival, which raises money for family farmers across the United States, will this year take place on Sept. 21 at the Alpine Valley Music Theater in East Troy, Wisconsin. Bonnie Raitt and Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats (who performed on Howard’s tribute to the Beatles’ “Revolver”) will also take the stage alongside Margo Price, Jamey Johnson, Tanya Tucker, Brothers Osborne, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Yola, Particle Kid, and other artists to be announced in coming months.
“We’re bringing Farm Aid to the heartland because we need to show the country what’s happening to the people who grow our food and take care of our soil and water,” Mellencamp said in a statement. “We want family farmers to know that we won’t let them go down without a fight. And neither should you–farmers need us, and we need farmers.”
“Everybody in this country should have access to good food,” 2018 Stern Show guest Matthews added. “And the people produce the best food – our family farmers – should be able to produce it without being afraid of going hungry themselves because they can’t make ends meet. These are the values that bring Farm Aid to Wisconsin this year.”
The lineup for the first Farm Aid in 1985 included everyone from Bon Jovi and the Beach Boys to Billy Joel and B.B. King. Last year, the event was held in Hartford, Conn., and featured past Stern Show guest Chris Stapleton alongside Matthews, Nelson, Mellencamp, Young, and more.
