VIDEO: Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver Are Headed for a Breakup in First ‘Marriage Story’ Teasers
Ray Liotta, Alan Alda, and Laura Dern co-star in Noah Baumbach’s Netflix drama, arriving this fall
August 20, 2019Stern Show veterans Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver have a lot to talk about but not much to say in the first trailers for “Marriage Story,” Noah Baumbach’s upcoming Netflix dramedy about a romance on the rocks and a family fighting to stay together.
One teaser begins with Charlie (Driver) listing his wife Nicole’s (Johansson) virtues over imagery of their loving but flawed relationship in action. “She’s a great dancer, infectious. She’s a mother who plays—really plays. She gives great presents. She’s competitive. She knows when to push me and when to leave me alone,” Driver’s character explains (above) to no one in particular.
A second teaser for the film, which also co-stars Laura Dern, Alan Alda, and Ray Liotta, features Scarlett itemizing the things she loves about Adam. But their sweet sentiments might not be enough to keep their romance afloat. “I thought we should talk,” she tells him forebodingly at the end of both clips.
“Ok,” Adam responds. “I don’t know how to start.”
Of course, neither actor had much trouble talking to Howard during their respective Stern Show visits. When Scarlett made an appearance in 2017, she opened up to listeners about everything from movie roles she’s lost out on to what it was like to work alongside the great Bill Murray in “Lost in Translation.” When Driver stopped by in 2015, he spoke candidly about his Marine Corps service, landing his role in the “Star Wars” sequels, and more.
“Marriage Story” premieres at the 2019 Venice Film Festival before arriving on Netflix this fall.
