VIDEO: Robert Pattinson Leads an Army Against Timothée Chalamet in 'The King' Official Teaser

Oscar-nominated actor Timothée Chalamet (“Call Me by Your Name”) plays the reluctant heir to the British throne in “The King,” an upcoming Netflix movie co-starring Joel Edgerton, Sean Harris, Lily-Rose Depp, Ben Mendelsohn, and 2017 Stern Show guest Robert Pattinson.

Directed by David Michôd (“Catch-22”) and co-written by Michôd and Edgerton, the film follows Hal (Chalamet), a wayward prince who has turned his back on the crown and enjoys living amongst the commoners. After his tyrannical father dies, however, he’s suddenly crowned King Henry V and tasked with ruling an entire nation. Now, he’ll have to endure a crash course in everything from palace politics to foreign policy while nefarious forces take aim at his claim to the throne.

“Already, I can feel the weight of this crown I wear. I’ve been forced to rely upon the counsel of men whose loyalty I question every waking moment. I need men around me I can trust,” Chalamet tells John Falstaff (Edgerton), an aging alcoholic knight who doubles as King Henry V’s mentor and only confidant.

“A king has no friends. A king has only followers and foe,” Edgerton responds.

Included among those foes is the Dauphin of France (Pattinson), apparently—the heir apparent to the French throne. The Dauphin leads an army of his own in the trailer and evidently intends to lay siege to Hal’s kingdom.

During his 2017 visit to the Stern Show, Robert memorably told Howard that long before he was interested in stealing the throne of England, he once got in trouble for stealing something else. Pattinson revealed he actually got expelled from school as a young boy after getting caught stealing dirty magazines. He also spoke to Howard about his work on the “Twilight” franchise, how fame has affected his romantic relationships, and what it might take for him to embrace his first superhero role—which came to pass earlier this year when he was announced as the next Batman.
