A familiar face showed up on last week’s episode of “Kevin Can Wait” — the Stern Show’s own Sal Governale. Howard’s staffer had a cameo role as a music manager named Lance looking to sign some new talent. He attends a gig that Kevin James’s character is performing at with his old band Smokefish whose other members include Adam Sandler and Chris Rock.
“I really dug your set,” Sal says in the clip (above). “You know a lot of people would say you guys are like a fading rock band with an antiquated sound.”
“Thank you,” James replies.
Turns out the only gifted member in the group is Smokefish’s keyboardist, played by Mike DelGuidice. That he can tickle the ivories and belt a tune with the best of them makes sense — DelGuidice plays guitar and sings backing vocals for Billy Joel in real life.
However, Sal’s guest spot on the CBS sitcom might have been bad luck – “Kevin Can Wait” was cancelled last week just a few days after the Stern Show staffer appeared on it.
