Sept. 22 festival features a variety of other musical guests, including fellow Stern Show veteran Chris Stapleton
June 25, 2018The Farm Aid 2018 lineup has been revealed and a slew of past Stern Show guests will once again be taking the stage, including headliners John Mellencamp, Neil Young, Willie Nelson, and Dave Matthews, who made his Stern Show debut on Monday.
The four rock legends also serve as board members for the annual charitable festival, which since 1985 has reportedly raised more than $53 million to help family farmers all across America hold on to their land. This year’s event, scheduled for Sept. 22 at Xfinity Theatre in Hartford, Conn., features a variety of different performers across several music genres, including 2017 Stern Show guest Chris Stapleton as well as Kacey Musgraves, Margo Price, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, and Particle Kid. More big-name guests and musicians are also expected to be announced in coming months.
“Family farmers are the backbone of our country,” Willie said in a statement published on Farm Aid’s website. “But today, they are endangered. Whether we live in cities like Hartford or the rural areas of New England, each of us has the power to create positive, lasting change in our farm and food system and strengthen farm families to help them stay on the land for generations to come.”
Dave, meanwhile, will take the Farm Aid 2018 stage alongside his band’s longtime guitarist Tim Reynolds. Dave praised Tim at length during his Monday morning conversation with Howard, going so far as to call him his favorite axe man of all time. Dave also put on a concert for Stern Show listeners, performing hits, covers, and new singles alike. Get the full lowdown on the Grammy winner’s Stern Show debut here.
