VIDEO: Skater Culture Takes Center Stage in Jonah Hill’s Directorial Debut ‘Mid90s’
Actor and Stern Show celebrity superfan also wrote the film, dropping into theaters in October

A young boy with a rough home life finds solace in skateboarding in “Mid90s,” an upcoming film written and directed by Oscar-nominated actor and Stern Show celebrity superfan Jonah Hill.
Set to the sounds of Kanye West and ‘90s-era Wu-Tang Clan, the official trailer for the coming-of-age story (above) follows Stevie (Sunny Suljic), a 13-year-old Los Angeleno who befriends a group of skateboarders one summer and immerses himself in the culture as a way to escape his troubled family life.
Distributed by A24—the indie studio behind recent award-worthy hits like “Lady Bird,” “Moonlight,” and Robert Pattinson’s “Good Time—“Mid90s” co-stars Lucas Hedges (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”), Katherine Waterston (“Inherent Vice”), Alexa Demie (“Ray Donovan”), Na-kel Smith, and Jerrod Carmichael (“The Carmichael Show,” “Neighbors”).
When Jonah visited the Stern Show most recently in 2016, the multi-talented entertainer opened up to Howard and his listeners about a variety of subjects, from meeting staffer JD Harmeyer’s then-girlfriend at “Saturday Night Live” to officiating the wedding between model Behati Prinsloo and fellow Stern Show veteran Adam Levine.
