Brandi Carlile and Sam Smith Join Forces for a Good Cause in ‘Party of One’ Music Video
Song hails from folk-rock singer and recent Stern Show guest's latest album “By the Way, I Forgive You”
October 17, 2018Brandi Carlile just debuted a brand-new music video featuring Grammy and Oscar-winning recording artist Sam Smith.
On Wednesday, the folk-rock singer and recent Stern Show guest released the official music video for “Party of One,” a song hailing from Brandi’s latest album “By the Way, I Forgive You.” She and Sam recorded the video as a duet and will donate a portion of the proceeds to charity as part of her ongoing campaign to raise $1 million for children impacted by war.
Unlike her politically charged clip for “Hold Your Hand” which showed protesters taking to the streets, however, Brandi and Sam’s “Party of One” video is set within the quiet, cozy confines of Capitol Studios where they recorded the track live in a session produced by Dave Cobb.
“There has never been a voice like Sam Smith’s, he’s a complete unicorn,” Brandi explained in a YouTube comment published just after her video. “Sam and I came together for a cause near and dear to our hearts and a portion of the profits will go to Children in Conflict. Sam and I will be telling you more about this incredible organization over the coming days … Until then I hope you enjoy this video!”
The release came nearly a week after Brandi began teasing her star-studded recording session on Twitter.
When Brandi made her Stern Show debut in April, she and Howard discussed all sorts of subjects, including her friendship with Elton John, her early days as a street busker, and of course the new album. She and bandmates Tim and Phil Hanseroth also performed some tunes live in the studio, including Brandi’s hit single “The Joke” and a cover of Crosby, Stills, and Nash’s “Helplessly Hoping.” Check it out (below).
