VIDEO: The Rise of the Mexican Drug Cartels Takes Center Stage in Trailer for ‘Narcos: Mexico’
“Ant-Man & the Wasp's” Michael Peña and “Rogue One's” Diego Luna star on this season of Netflix’s acclaimed crime drama, returning Nov. 16
October 18, 2018There’s more to the South and Central American drug trade than just Pablo Escobar and his acolytes, it would seem.
Netflix has dropped its trailer for “Narcos: Mexico,” an all-new season for the critically acclaimed crime drama which now shifts focus from the Colombian cartels to the rise of the Mexican drug cartels in the 1980s. The new story also brings with it a new cast of characters, including “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” actor Diego Luna as Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo, a.k.a. El Padrino (the Godfather)—a real life drug trafficker who created the Guadalajara Cartel. He’ll face off against “Ant-Man & the Wasp” co-star Michael Peña as Kiki Camarena, an up-and-coming D.E.A. agent who moves his wife and child from California to South of the Border as the drug trade is kicking into high gear.
The official trailer (above) has everything one could expect from an 1980s-set drug drama, like violence, guns, flashy clothes, crazy facial hair, more violence, drug use, explosions, power-hungry kingpins, stacks of cash, and, well, even more violence.
“Narcos: Mexico” hits Netflix on Nov. 16. Check out the trailer (above).
