VIDEO: New ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8 Teaser Reveals April 2019 Premiere Date
HBO’s Emmy-winning drama returns next year with its final six episodes
November 14, 2018Forget winter, it’s time to get excited for the coming spring.
“Game of Thrones” has dropped a new Season 8 teaser. The clip (above) features memorable footage from previous episodes of HBO’s critically acclaimed drama and reveals the show’s final six-episode run will commence in April 2019.
It’s been a long time coming for fans curious to learn who will live, who will die, and who will control Westeros. The ensemble series debuted back in 2011 and its most recent episode aired in August 2017. “Game of Thrones” has of course remained relevant in the interim—it’s won multiple Emmys, a prequel series starring Naomi Watts has been announced, and the Iron Throne was even paid an homage of sorts during Ronnie “the Limo Driver” Mund’s recent on-air birthday celebration.
Additionally, the show’s past and present stars have been making an impact on the big screen with projects like Peter Dinklage’s post-apocalyptic flick “I Think Were Alone Now,” Sophie Turner’s “X-Men” spinoff “Dark Phoenix,” and Jason Momoa’s standalone debut as DC Comics’ “Aquaman.”
“Game of Thrones” Season 8, also starring Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Maisie Williams, and Lena Headey debuts in April on HBO. Watch the latest teaser (above).
