VIDEO: Jay-Z Drops Animated Video for ‘The Story of O.J.’
Song hails from rapper's new album “4:44”

Jay-Z dropped an animated video this week for “The Story of O.J.,” a song from his brand new album “4:44.”
Directed by Jay-Z and filmmaker Mark Romanek, the black and white cartoon draws attention to destructive stereotypes which have maligned African-Americans for hundreds of years. According to Time, the music video also takes aim at the early animations of Walt Disney, which—many argue—include racist depictions of minorities.
The video for “The Story of O.J.” comes just a few days after the rapper released a mini documentary about the song called “Footnotes for the Story of O.J.,” containing interviews with numerous celebrities—including Chris Rock, Will Smith, Trevor Noah, and Michael Jordan—speaking candidly about the black experience in America.
When Jay-Z joined the Stern Show in 2010 to discuss his book “Decoded,” he spoke about a slew of different subjects, including how his relationship with the black community has evolved since becoming a superstar. “I try to stay attached with the culture with everything I do,” he told Howard. “It’s very difficult, but I know where that comes from … You don’t have to be sitting on a bench in Marcy Projects to represent the culture.”
