VIDEO: Liam Neeson Takes the Express Train to Action Town in Official ‘Commuter’ Trailer

Liam Neeson plays a mild-mannered businessman embroiled in a violent scheme of Hitchcockian proportions in the newly released official trailer for “The Commuter,” a train-set thriller arriving in January.
The trailer (above) rolls along slowly at first with his character commuting to work while delivering a voice-over soliloquy regarding the things we rarely contemplate about strangers on a train. But everything changes after an enigmatic passenger (Vera Farmiga) strikes up a conversation and makes him a lucrative offer he can’t refuse.
“Someone on this train does not belong,” she tells Neeson’s character as the camera cuts to a few suspicious-looking passengers, including “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul’s” Jonathan Banks. “All you have to do is find them.”
That’s when Neeson’s character’s day goes off the rails. Before long he’s witness to a murder and is running for his life.
Neeson, who recently starred alongside Stern Show celebrity superfan Ike Barinholtz in “Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down the White House,” was a topic of conversation during Ike’s most recent Stern Show visit.
The actor-comedian revealed Neeson gave him memorable acting advice on the “Mark Felt” set. “He takes me aside, and he goes, ‘Hey Ike … I want you to remember, in this movie, I’m your boss and you’re being fucking rude to me right now. So, on this next take, don’t be fucking rude,'” Ike told Howard. “He gave me a great note.”

“The Commuter” is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra—who also worked with Neeson on the passenger plane-set thriller “Non-Stop”—and co-stars Patrick Wilson (“The Conjuring”) and Sam Neill (“Peaky Blinders”). It hits theaters Jan. 12. Watch the official trailer (above).
