Sandra Bullock Recruits Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, Rihanna, and More in First ‘Ocean’s 8’ Trailer
Anne Hathaway better watch her neck in the new all-female heist film
December 19, 2017Anything George Clooney can do, Sandra Bullock can do better … and with at least three fewer partners in crime.
So seems to be the case in the first trailer of “Ocean’s 8” released by Warner Bros. on Tuesday. Bullock stars as Debbie Ocean, the estranged sister of Clooney’s character Danny, who sweet-talks her way out of prison by promising her parole board she only wants to live “the simple life.”
“I just want to hold down a job, make some friends,” Sandra says in the trailer (above). And make some friends she does.
Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Rihanna, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, and Stern Show guest Mindy Kaling soon come on board Ms. Ocean’s scheme to snatch the jewelry off the neck of superstar Daphne Kluger (played by Anne Hathaway) as she attends the annual Met Gala.
“Can’t we just go to this? Do we have to steal stuff?” Kaling asks in the trailer after finding out Taylor Swift will also be at the invite-only event. Her question is answered with seven definitive yesses.
Many Stern Show guests have told Howard about the high-society hobnobbing that goes on each year at the Met Gala, including Amy Schumer. During her interview in 2016, Amy admitted the pressure she feels dressing up and rubbing elbows with so many celebs. She did, however, get to meet Beyoncé one year and revealed to Howard that after the pop star asked if this was her first year attending the gala, Schumer jokingly replied, “It’s my last.”
“Ocean’s 8” also stars Damian Lewis (“Homeland”), Richard Armitage (“The Hobbit”), and past Stern Show guest James Corden. See the film in theaters June 8.
