Security footage captures a man dressed like a goalie stealing American beer

It’s a straight-up cliche to say that Canadians love hockey these days. However, sometimes cliches exist for a reason.
On the morning of Aug.15, two men broke into a Russell, Manitoba convenience store and took three cases of Budweiser — an American beer. One of the thieves was fully decked-out in authentic goalie gear, including a stick.
The whole case had locals bewildered, but amused. “[The thief] was wearing everything but a mask,” Russell police Cpl. Brett Church told the Winnipeg Free Press, noting the culprit covered his face with a tuque. However, there are some clues to help identify the late-night beer grabber. Church said he held his hockey stick “in his weak hand…like he’s walking in a goalie stance. He must be a goalie.”
After seeing surveillance footage of the robbery, store manager Jean Betke wasn’t even all that upset. “I just laughed out loud,” she said.
The footage was even commented on by Olympic gold medallist and Russell native Jon Montgomery, who won the gold for men’s skeleton at the 2010 winter games in Vancouver. He said via Twitter:

The two men are still at large, though police might want to scope out any local hockey games for drunk goalies.
