VIDEO: James Franco, Maggie Gyllenhaal Star in Official Trailer for NYC Porn Drama ‘The Deuce’
The late '70s-set HBO series premieres Sept. 10
June 1, 2017Cops, call girls, club-goers, and a couple of James Francos take center stage in the official trailer for “The Deuce,” HBO’s upcoming drama following the legalization and subsequent rise of the Times Square porn industry in the ’70s and ’80s.
The New York-set series stars past Stern Show guests Franco (as two mob-connected twin brothers) and Maggie Gyllenhaal (as Candy, a prostitute-turned-porn star). Their co-stars include Margarita Levieva, Gary Carr, Emily Meade, Lawrence Gilliard Jr., Dominique Fishback, Natalie Paul, and Method Man. The series was created by David Simon—the TV guru behind “The Wire,” “Treme,” and “Generation Kill”—and George Pelecanos.
Considering “The Deuce” is a premium network drama about the sex industry, there’s a pretty good chance it’ll at one point or another include nudity. While it’s unclear whether Franco intends to go Full Monty, the actor did discuss getting naked on screen during his 2014 visit to the Stern Show. Check out more from that interview here.
Maggie, who got her big break opposite James Spader in the kink-filled 2002 film “Secretary,” talked to Howard about playing that sultry part when she visited in 2014. Click here for more from their discussion.
“The Deuce” premieres Sept. 10 on HBO. Check out the official trailer (above).
