VIDEO: Kink and Comics Converge in New ‘Professor Marston and the Wonder Women’ Trailer
Upcoming biopic explores secret BDSM-filled identity of Wonder Woman creator
July 19, 2017Turns out Wonder Woman’s lasso works in the bedroom, too.
There’s a new trailer for ”Professor Marston and the Wonder Women,” the upcoming Annapurna biopic about the secret identity of Harvard psychologist Dr. William Moulton Marston, a.k.a the man who invented comic book heroine Wonder Woman and also an early lie-detector test.
It begins with a character played by Connie Britton grilling Dr. Marston (Luke Evans) about writing Wonder Woman under a pseudonym and his apparent fetish for secrets. As we soon find out, however, the good doctor’s list of fetishes expands far beyond that.
When he’s not manipulating his wife Elizabeth (Rebecca Hall) into seducing a beautiful young female student named Olive (Bella Heathcote), he’s in the classroom extolling the virtues of BDSM. As the story goes, Elizabeth and Olive are actually the inspiration behind his infamous DC Comics heroine (whose origin story was adapted recently into a blockbuster Patty Jenkins film). Needless to say, Dr. Marston’s bedroom predilections eventually work their way onto the comic book page.
“Every issue of ‘Wonder Woman’ is filled with violence, torture, and sadomasochism,” Britton tells him, as his life seemingly spins out of control.
“Professor Marston & the Wonder Women” hits theaters this fall. Watch the trailer (above).
