VIDEO: Adam Levine, Jennifer Hudson, and Miley Cyrus Spoof the ’70s in Action-Packed ‘Voice’ Promo
NBC’s competitive singing show, also featuring Blake Shelton and Carson Daly, returns Sept. 25
August 31, 2017Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine summersaults through a window in the opening seconds of an action-packed, ‘70s-spoofing promo for “The Voice.”
Titled “Back on the Beat,” the teaser for NBC’s competitive singing show turns its Season 13 hosts and judges into cops, from newcomer Jennifer Hudson to returning veterans Miley Cyrus, Carson Daly, Blake Shelton, and Levine.
Adam and Blake—dressed like characters on a “Starsky & Hutch” spinoff—spend much of the promo driving around in a muscle car wearing leather jackets and sunglasses, while Cyrus karate chops and high kicks the bad guys in a pair of high heels and Hudson transforms from lounge singer into nunchucks-wielding badass.
An Oscar winner and former “American Idol” finalist, Hudson signed on to judge “The Voice” back in May. In 2014, she sat down with Howard to discuss her singing career as well as her role in the acclaimed film “Dreamgirls.” Check out the interview here.
Levine, meanwhile, has joined the Stern Show many times over the years. During his most recent sit-down with Howard, the talented entertainer revealed a great deal about what goes on behind the scenes on “The Voice,” including a burgeoning romance between Shelton and No Doubt superstar Gwen Stefani—another Stern Show guest who has served as a judge on “The Voice.”
“If you had told me that Blake Shelton would be with Gwen Stefani, I would have told you ‘you’re out of your fucking mind’ but it’s so wrong that it’s right,” Adam told Howard in March. “I don’t think that you can really control those types of matters of the heart. I think they found each other at a really interesting time in their lives and I see it as a beautiful thing.”
