Longtime David Bowie collaborator Mick Ronson takes center stage in “Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story,” a documentary about the influential guitarist’s life and career.

Bowie, who died in 2016 at the age of 69, is featured heavily in the trailer (above) and even provided voiceover lines specifically for the film about his Spiders from Mars guitarist who played on five of his albums over the years.

“Both Mick Ronson and David Bowie together were the ultimate duo,” the film’s director Jon Brewer said in a statement. “They performed and recorded like magicians and created masterpieces that will live on forever.”

In addition to Bowie, Ronson rocked with a handful of other legendary musicians before dying in 1993, including Bob Dylan (in the Rolling Thunder Revue) and Lou Reed (on “Transformer”). He even produced and played guitar on Stern Show veteran John Mellencamp’s seminal 1982 hit “Jack & Diane.”

“Bedside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story,” which features both unearthed concert footage and testimonials from other musicians (like Queen drummer Roger Taylor and Yes keyboardist Rick Wakeman), opens Friday in select theaters and is available Oct. 27 on home video.
