Linkin Park Honors Chester Bennington With ‘One More Light’ Video, Upcoming Tribute Concert
Band will pay homage to its late frontman in October at L.A.’s Hollywood Bowl
September 19, 2017Linkin Park honored recently deceased frontman Chester Bennington this week by dropping a new music video and announcing an upcoming “one-night-only” tribute concert.
Released Monday, the video for the ballad “One More Night” (above) features concert footage as well as behind-the-scenes looks at the band in general and the late singer in particular. The song’s lyrics—which touch upon pain, death, and loss—are extra poignant considering the circumstances of Bennington’s July death, ultimately ruled a suicide.
The tribute for the fallen 41-year-old frontman will be held Oct. 27 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. It will mark the band’s first performance since Bennington’s death and will reportedly also feature performances from “a number of other artists.” Additionally, Linkin Park has pledged to donate its share of the proceeds to Music For Relief’s One More Light Fund, established by the band in the wake of Bennington’s passing.
“It has been incredibly emotional to work on [the ‘One More Night’ video], and especially to watch it. I feel that by doing it, we not only faced some of our biggest fears, but it enabled us to use our talents to bring some light to people that need it,” Linkin Park DJ Joe Hahn said in a statement published on the band’s YouTube channel. “As we move forward to the Hollywood Bowl show and beyond, I think about the people that connect with the band, outside and inside our circle. This video is a gesture of good will to the people that want that connection.”
“’One More Light’ was written with the intention of sending love to those who lost someone,” the band’s co-founder Mike Shinoda added. “We now find ourselves on the receiving end. In memorial events, art, videos, and images, fans all over the world have gravitated towards this song as their declaration of love and support for the band and the memory of our dear friend, Chester. We are so very grateful and can’t wait to see you again.”
