VIDEO: Bill Hader Stars as a Hitman Pursuing an Acting Career in ‘Barry’
“Saturday Night Live” and Stern Show veteran's HBO series debuts in 2018
December 6, 2017Bill Hader plays a Midwestern assassin longing for a different kind of life in the newly released teaser trailer for “Barry,” debuting in 2018 on HBO.
The eight-episode comedy series follows the former “Saturday Night Live” star and Stern Show veteran after his titular hitman takes on an assignment in Los Angeles and unexpectedly finds himself falling in love with … the local theater scene.
In addition to directing, producing, and starring on the show, Bill co-wrote it along with Alec Berg of “Seinfeld,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and “Silicon Valley” fame.
Hader, whose recent roles span from Seth Rogen’s “Sausage Party” to a Steve Martin music video, last joined the Stern Show in 2016 along with his “Documentary Now!” collaborators Fred Armisen and Seth Meyers. They discussed a variety of topics during their visit, including “SNL” creator Lorne Michaels’ reaction to one of Fred’s most beloved impressions. “The first time [Fred] did [former New York Governor David] Paterson is by far the hardest I’ve ever seen Lorne Michaels laugh in my entire life,” Bill told Howard.

“Barry,” costarring Stephen Root, Sarah Goldberg, Glenn Fleshler, Anthony Carrigan, and past Stern Show guest Henry Winkler, debuts in the spring. Check out the teaser (above).
