Video: CBS Releases First Look at ‘Star Trek: Discovery’
Network unveils first footage from the CBS All Access series during upfronts
May 22, 2017CBS’s recent upfronts presentation featured several first looks at the network’s upcoming series and projects, perhaps none more anticipated than “Star Trek: Discovery,” the franchise’s first TV series since “Star Trek: Enterprise” wrapped in 2005.
Over the weekend, the lengthy trailer for the CBS All Access series (above) finally hit the internet. Setting the stage for “Discovery,” which takes place “ten years before Kirk, Spock, and the Enterprise,” it starts with Michael Burnham, played by “The Walking Dead’s” Sonequa Martin-Green, being given command of her own ship. Soon enough the ship comes across a strange object at the outskirts of Federation space and a conflict ensues with, you guessed it, the Klingons.
“Star Trek: Discovery” was created by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman for streaming service CBS All Access. The series stars Martin-Green, notably the first African-American woman to topline a “Star Trek” project, Michelle Yeoh (“Mechanic: Resurrection”), Doug Jones (“Falling Skies”), Jason Isaacs (the “Harry Potter” franchise) and Anthony Rapp (“Rent”). Check out the poster (below).
