Ike Barinholtz’s Real-Life Neck Injury Being Written Into ‘The Mindy Project’
Stern Show superfan is recovering after breaking his neck during a stunt on the set of his upcoming movie “The Pact”

Ike Barinholtz is recovering from a broken neck after an accident on the set of his upcoming comedy “The Pact.”
The mishap occurred five weeks ago when a falling stunt went wrong, according to Variety. The actor, comedian, and Stern Show superfan reportedly fractured his cervical vertebrae on impact and must now keep his neck stabilized until it heals.
Ike, who confirmed the news on Twitter, told People magazine his brace has since been incorporated onto his show “The Mindy Project.”

“After the accident, I talked to Mindy [Kaling] and we agreed that the only option was writing it into the show,” he said. “Luckily, on ‘The Mindy Project,’ I play a character who could break his neck falling out of his bunk bed and it’s completely believable.”
Additionally, Ike didn’t let his accident stop him from recently directing an episode on the show’s upcoming sixth and final season, though there was one complication: “I have found it’s hard to command respect while in a neck brace,” he said.
“Sometimes it takes getting hurt to realize how lucky you are to have great people in your life,” he continued. “My family has been taking amazing care of me, and Mindy and all the folks at the show have been so kind. Also, many friends have sent lots of food which is great — but I can’t exercise, so in a way, it’s exceptionally cruel.”
When Ike joined the Stern Show in May, he opened up about how much he will miss his “Mindy Project” crew and co-stars after the show wraps. “It’s just like a fun family and it’s kind of going away now. It’s tough,” Ike told Howard before sharing a hilarious story about blowing Mindy Kaling’s mind with a pot cookie.
“The Mindy Project” returns to Hulu in September and Ike’s upcoming comedy “The Pact,” also starring John Cena and Leslie Mann, hits theaters in 2018.
