VIDEO: Chris Rock Feels the Heat Alongside Adam Sandler in First ‘The Week Of’ Teaser
Netflix wedding comedy, featuring Ronnie “the Limo Driver” Mund as Pallbearer No. 5, debuts April 27
February 1, 2018Adam Sandler and Chris Rock are two very different fathers struggling to find common ground as their children get married in the debut trailer for Netflix’s upcoming wedding comedy “The Week Of.”
The short teaser (above) opens with Rock, playing the father of the groom, suffering through a lengthy car ride with Sandler, the father of the bride. Rock gets quite literally hot under the collar as the two go back and forth about whether or not to turn on the A/C.
As Stern Show fans will remember, it was during Adam’s 2017 sit-down with Howard that he first revealed the plot to “The Week Of,” the fourth film in his eight-picture deal with Netflix. “My daughter’s going to marry Chris Rock’s son,” he told Howard, adding that the Robert Smigel-directed film would explore “the week of the wedding and what families do and how crazy it gets.” Listen to the discussion below:
The Stern Show connections don’t end there, however. Ronnie “the Limo Driver” Mund was ultimately cast to play “Pallbearer No. 5” in the film, but his involvement was anything but drama free. The Stern Show staffer actually left work early to shoot the extended cameo, which consisted of Ronnie pretending to sleep between two characters and then uttering just a one-word line. Fellow show staffer Shuli Egar followed Ronnie around on set that day and even spoke to Sandler, Smigel, and producer Allen Covert about Mr. Mund’s involvement in the production. Take a listen (below).
“The Week Of,” co-starring Rachel Dratch and Steve Buscemi, hits Netflix on April 27. Watch the first teaser (above).
