VIDEO: ‘Luke Cage’ Season 2 Drops First Teaser and Debut Date
Marvel’s bulletproof superhero returns to Netflix on June 22
March 6, 2018Sweet Christmas comes early this year for fans of Netflix’s comic book adaptations.
On Tuesday, the digital streamer dropped the debut trailer for Season 2 of “Marvel’s Luke Cage,” starring Mike Colter as Harlem’s titular, unbreakable superhero. In addition to offering a first look at the next batch of episodes, the teaser reveals the new season will premiere June 22.
“Yo, I’m Luke Cage. You can’t burn me, you can’t blast me, and you definitely can’t break me,” he says in the short teaser (above), before inviting any and all challengers to “step up” and test him.
The bulletproof brawler was last seen saving New York from the clutches of undead ninjas and Sigourney Weaver in Netflix’s 2017 team-up series “The Defenders,” where Colter’s character fought crime alongside the likes of Iron Fist (Finn Jones), Daredevil (Charlie Cox), and Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter)—whose own solo series returns for its sophomore season on Friday.
While Netflix has thus far kept Season 2 plot details close to the chest, we do know actress turned director Lucy Liu will direct the first episode and returning characters will include Misty Knight (Simone Missick), Black Mariah (Alfre Woodard), Shades (Theo Rossi), and Marvel-Netflix stalwart Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), among others.
