2018 Tony Nominations: Tina Fey, Amy Schumer, and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler All Receive Nods
Broadway’s biggest night will also honor Bruce Springsteen with a special award

The 2018 Tony Awards revealed its list of nominees Tuesday and leading the pack are Tina Fey’s “Mean Girls” and “SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical,” with 12 nominations each.
The “Mean Girls” and “SpongeBob” musicals weren’t the only productions adapted from popular books, movies, and shows to receive nominations, as “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” and “Frozen” also earned multiple nods. Likewise, Tina is far from the only Hollywood heavyweight up for an award. Other well-known actors earning nominations include recent Stern Show guest Amy Schumer (for her role in fellow Stern Show guest Steve Martin’s “Meteor Shower”) as well as Tony Shalhoub, Michael Cera, Denzel Washington, Andrew Garfield, and recent Oscar nominee Laurie Metcalf. Additionally, rock stars and Stern Show veterans Joe Perry, Steven Tyler, and the Flaming Lips were nominated as part of the all-star lineup of musicians who contributed to music on “SpongeBob.”
As mentioned on Tuesday’s Stern Show, Bruce Springsteen will also be honored at the Tonys for his critically acclaimed one-man stage production “Springsteen on Broadway.” He and actor John Leguizamo, who authored Best Play nominee “Latin History for Morons,” are both slated to receive special awards for their work.
The 2018 Tonys will be co-hosted by former nominees Josh Groban (“Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812”) and Sara Bareilles (“Waitress”). The show will be held June 10 at Radio City Music Hall.
