VIDEO: Benicio Del Toro Plots a Prison Break in First Trailer for Ben Stiller’s ‘Escape at Dannemora’
Paul Dano and Patricia Arquette costar on the Showtime crime drama, debuting in November
August 7, 2018A love triangle between a prison employee and two convicted murderers leads to a jailbreak and a massive manhunt in the official trailer for “Escape at Dannemora,” Showtime’s upcoming drama based on a real-life prison break which captured the nation’s attention in 2015.
Directed by Stern Show regular Ben Stiller, the limited series stars fellow Stern Show guest Benicio Del Toro as Richard Matt, the inmate who masterminds the escape, and actor Paul Dano as David Sweat, the convicted cop killer who breaks out with him. Oscar winner Patricia Arquette plays Joyce “Tillie” Mitchell, the Clinton Correctional Facility tailor who forms relationships with both men before hiding hacksaw blades in the hamburger meat in the hopes of helping them escape.
Stiller, who last sat down with Howard in October 2016 to discuss his courageous battle with prostate cancer, directed all eight episodes of the series and serves as executive producer alongside creators Brett Johnson and Michael Tolkin, who met while working as writers on Showtime’s “Ray Donovan.” The upcoming series co-stars Bonnie Hunt, Eric Lange, David Morse, and “Sopranos” star Michael Imperioli, who portrays New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.
“Escape at Dannemora” premieres Sunday, Nov. 18 at 10 p.m. on Showtime. Watch the official trailer (above).
