VIDEO: 'Jane Fonda in Five Acts' Trailer Explores the 80-Year-Old Legend's Life and Career From Her Own Perspective

Jane Fonda opens up about her long and storied career as an actress, sex symbol, fitness tycoon, and political activist in the trailer for “Jane Fonda in Five Acts,” debuting Sept. 24 on HBO.

Award-winning filmmaker Susan Lacy (“Spielberg”) directed the documentary, which paints an intimate portrait of the 80-year-old Hollywood icon thanks to a bevy of archival footage, interviews with friends, family, and colleagues (including Robert Redford and fellow Stern Show guest Lily Tomlin), and over 21 hours of candid conversations with Jane herself.

In addition to her successes as an actress and entrepreneur, “Jane Fonda in Five Acts” also explores Jane’s controversial involvement in the women’s and anti-war movements, touches upon her high-profile marriages, offers unique insight into a decades long health struggle, and teases what’s yet to come for Jane, who says “this is the beginning of [her] last act.”
