VIDEO: Matt Murdock Joins the Dark Side While Kingpin Goes Free in ‘Daredevil’ Season 3 Trailer
Marvel superhero series returns Oct. 19 to Netflix
October 4, 2018Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) finally succumbs to his inner demons after his arch-nemesis Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), a.k.a. the Kingpin, gets released from prison in the official trailer for “Daredevil” Season 3, hitting Netflix later this month.
The new clip begins with Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil, reemerging in the Big Apple after nearly getting killed at the end of last year’s team-up series “The Defenders.” While the super-powered vigilante’s body has healed, his spirit seems broken. “I used to listen to people asking for help,” Daredevil explains (above). “That’s what I was trying to do—help people. But I was fooling myself. Darkness only responds to darkness.”
Meanwhile, Kingpin—the very same villain Matt worked so hard to put behind bars—somehow negotiates his own release from prison. Making matters worse, the newly freed crime boss makes it his mission to turn Daredevil into public enemy number one. Assisting him in his mission is a mysterious Daredevil doppelgänger who helps frame the hero by going on a deadly rampage under the guise of Daredevil.
The trailer doesn’t reveal the lookalike’s identity, but considering his proficiency throwing Daredevil’s patented club there’s a good chance it might be series newcomer Wilson Bethel, who has been rumored to play supervillain and projectile weapons expert Bullseye.
“Daredevil” Season 3, also starring Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page and Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, returns Oct. 19 to Netflix. Watch the official trailer (above) and check out more of what’s coming to TV this fall here.
