VIDEO: Brie Larson Shows Off Her Mohawk and Mighty Powers in New ‘Captain Marvel’ Trailer
Samuel L. Jackson and Jude Law co-star in the superhero movie, soaring into theaters March 8
December 4, 2018Brie Larson is back and she’s once again punching old ladies in the new trailer for “Captain Marvel,” hitting theaters in March.
Premiering during “Monday Night Football,” the latest look at the next Marvel movie (above) delves further into the backstory of military test pilot Carol Danvers (Larson), who transforms into Captain Marvel and is granted superhuman powers after getting imbued with alien DNA. Audiences also learn more about her mission to save the Earth, thanks to repeat Stern Show guest Samuel L. Jackson who reprises his long-standing Marvel Cinematic Universe role as Nick Fury.
“So, Skrulls are the bad guys?” Jackson asks Larson over footage of her pummeling a Skrull disguised as an elderly woman. “And you’re a Kree, a race of noble warriors?”
“Heroes. Noble warrior heroes,” she corrects him.
In addition to further explaining her character, the new trailer is filled to the brim with action, including one sequence in outer space where Captain Marvel rocks a mohawk while flying around and blasting her enemies with colorful beams of energy radiating from her body.
While the 1990s-set film takes place before Fury has assembled the Avengers, several MCU veterans do make appearances, like Djimon Hounsou and Lee Pace—who played Korath and Ronin in “Guardians of the Galaxy”—and Clark Gregg, who starred as Agent Phil Coulson in “The Avengers” and “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” They’re joined in “Captain Marvel” by a cast of supporting characters including Ben Mendelsohn (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”), Jude Law (“The Young Pope”), Gemma Chan (“Crazy Rich Asians”), McKenna Grace (“I, Tonya”), and Annette Bening (“Life Itself”).
Opening March 8, “Captain Marvel” will be the first MCU film released following the death of comic book pioneer Stan Lee. Check out Howard’s tribute to the visionary here and watch the latest trailer (above).
