VIDEO: ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8 Teaser Hints at a Final Showdown Between Fire & Ice
HBO’s award-winning drama returns with new episodes in April

Dragonstone castle’s iconic “Painted Table” map gets overtaken by the elements in the new teaser for the eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones,” HBO’s Emmy-winning drama returning in April.
The minute-long clip (above) doesn’t feature any cast members or reveal any new footage, but it does include a bit of action as a map of Westeros and various House avatars—like the Stark’s dire wolf and the Lannister’s lion—are consumed by fire and ice.
The dramatic imagery is likely a nod to both the title of the George R. R. Martin book series (“A Song of Ice and Fire”) the TV show is based upon and also foreshadowing for the final showdown between the White Walkers of the North, the fire-breathing dragons coming from the South, and all the players vying for control of the Iron Throne.
“Game of Thrones” Season 8, starring Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, and Lena Headey, debuts in April on HBO.
