AUDIO: Slash Drops New Single ‘Driving Rain’ With Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators
Stern Show guest and legendary Guns N’ Roses guitarist drops song ahead of solo LP and tour
July 25, 2018Slash is back with a brand-new single.
The repeat Stern Show guest, Birthday Bash performer, and legendary Guns N’ Roses guitarist just released “Driving Rain” featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, a track off the rock icon’s forthcoming album “Living the Dream,” due out in September.
“It’s a cool guitar part we ran though, and from that point forward the rest of the song started to come together in my mind while on the road,” Slash explained in a statement. “We put it all together this year and Myles came up with a great melody for it.”
The 12-song “Living the Dream” LP will serve as his fourth solo album and third with the backing band, which features Kennedy on vocals, Brent Fitz on drums, Frank Sidoris on guitar, and Todd Kerns on bass. When Slash along with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators joined the Stern Show most recently in 2014, it was to promote their previous record “World on Fire.” In addition to performing for the Stern Show and its listeners, Slash walked Howard through the origins of some of his most infamous guitar licks, including “Paradise City,” “Mr. Brownstone,” and “November Rain.”
In 2017, meanwhile, SiriusXM hosted a Guns N’ Roses concert at the renowned Apollo Theater. The Stern Show even gave away tickets to the event by way of a live, on-air competition between two of the band’s self-professed superfans. As listeners may remember, this led to Stern Show executive producer Gary Dell’Abate giving his best Slash impression as he covered GNR tracks with the trumpet (below).
Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators kick off a month-long North American tour on Sept. 13 in Los Angeles, less than two weeks before “Living the Dream” hits shelves on Sept. 21. Get more tour info here and listen to “Driving Rain” (top).
