VIDEO: Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin Lose Their Beach House, Eat Weed Gummies, and Encounter RuPaul in ‘Grace and Frankie’ Season 5 Trailer
2018 Stern Show guests’ award-winning Netflix comedy returns Jan. 18
January 9, 20192018 Stern Show guests Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin suffer a serious setback on Season 5 of “Grace and Frankie,” hitting Netflix later this month.
The new trailer (above) begins with late-in-life best friends Grace (Fonda) and Frankie (Tomlin) learning their respective children have conspired to sell their beloved beach house behind their backs. Frankie, an unrepentant hippie, breaks the bad news to Grace by referencing a movie starring Wednesday’s Stern Show guest Lindsay Lohan.
“We’ve been parent trapped,” she tells her more level-headed friend.
After sneaking back into the home to steal back their fondue pot and toaster, they’re confronted by an angry character played by series newcomer RuPaul. “It seems you’re breaking and entering,” he tells them, adding “Who the fuck are you?”
“Who the fuck are you?” Frankie fires back.
It’s not the trailer’s only awkward moment, either. There’s also Robert (Martin Sheen) and Sol (Sam Waterston)’s children walking in on them with a naked young man, a heated exchange with a traffic cop, a weed-gummy induced giggle fit, and plenty more f-bombs from Fonda and Tomlin.
The duo spoke highly of their working relationship during last year’s joint visit to the Stern Show. “We crack each other up and we can’t stop laughing,” Jane told Howard—listen to their full interview here.
“Grace and Frankie” Season 5, co-starring Ethan Embry, June Diane Raphael, Brooklyn Decker and Baron Vaughn, premieres Jan. 18 on Netflix.
