VIDEO: The Joker Takes a Batarang to the Hand in ‘Gotham’ Series Finale Teaser
Fox's long-running Batman prequel concludes with a 2-part finale, kicking off Thursday, April 18
April 2, 2019“Gotham” may soon be coming to an end, but the rivalry between Batman and his eventual arch-nemesis the Joker is just getting started.
Fox released a new trailer this week for the final episode of “Gotham,” a DC Comics-inspired crime drama chronicling the rise of the Dark Knight as well as many of his most nefarious villains.
Focusing wholly on the Joker (Cameron Monaghan)—an emerging, maniacal villain known on the series as J—the short clip offers fans its first glimpse of him following his Ace Chemicals disfigurement in a recent episode. It also portends another confrontation between him and young Batman (David Mazouz), as the Joker is pictured at one point with a Batarang sticking out of his bleeding hand.
Not shown in the new trailer are several series regulars, including Ben McKenzie as valiant Gotham City police officer Jim Gordon and past Stern Show guests Robin Lord Taylor and Cory Michael Smith as rogues gallery members Penguin and Riddler, respectively. Considering Fox previously announced the Joker doesn’t make his “Gotham” debut until the show’s very last episode, however, there’s a decent chance the rest of the cast will get an opportunity to shine during the part one of the two-part finale, “They Did What?,” airing April 18.
As Stern Show fans will remember, Cory spoke about his own villain’s origin when he made his debut sit-down with Howard in 2018. The actor even revealed how he landed the coveted role of the Riddler in the first place. Listen to a clip from the interview (below).
“Gotham” airs its final two episodes at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 18 and Thursday, April 25 on Fox.
