VIDEO: John Legend, Meghan Trainor, and Charlie Puth Star in Promo for Adam Levine’s New Reality Show ‘Songland’

Longtime “Voice” coach Adam Levine is proving he’s interested in more than just how well people can sing. The Maroon 5 frontman, Stern Show regular, and recent Cameo recipient also has a vested interest in helping aspiring singer-songwriters craft the perfect hit tune.

NBC has debuted a promo for its upcoming show “Songland,” executive produced by Levine and Eurythmics co-founder Dave Stewart. The competitive reality series aims to uncover new talent and pull back the curtains on how chart-topping music gets made.

The show’s contestants will be helped along by an array of guest artists, like past Stern Show guests John Legend and Meghan Trainor as well as musician and record producer Charlie Puth, who in recent years has recorded both a Robin Quivers parody and a “Hit ’em with the Hein” song for the Stern Show.

Other big names featured on “Songland” include will.i.am, the Jonas Brothers, Macklemore, One Republic, Aloe Blacc, and Leona Lewis. Each episode will have one winner, according to reports, and their prize will include having their song recorded by one of the guest artists.

“Every artist is looking for one thing: that next great song,” Legend explains in the promo (above).

Legend has of course penned many of his own greatest hits, but as Stern Show fans will remember he’s also more than willing to perform songs written by others. When the award-winning artist made his Stern Show debut in 2013, he actually sat down at a piano and delivered a unique rendition of Bruce Springsteen’s iconic tune “Dancing in the Dark.” Check it out (below).
