AC/DC Frontman Brian Johnson’s Rock-Themed Travel Series Headed to American TV

Brian Johnson’s rock ‘n’ roll-themed travel series is coming to America.

AXS TV recently picked up two seasons of the AC/DC frontman’s “A Life on the Road” with plans to debut Season 1 in September, according to reports. The format will see Johnson travel the globe to visit with legendary musicians like fellow Stern Show veterans Sting, Billy Joel, Robert Plant, Joe Walsh, Roger Daltrey, Joe Elliott, and Lars Ulrich, to name a few. His guests, who also include Dolly Parton, Mick Fleetwood, and Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits, will share stories from their own careers in their own words, according to a description of the show.

“A Life on the Road’s” premiere episode focuses on Johnson and Sting’s visit to the former home of CBGB, the infamous (and now defunct) New York City club which hosted the Police for their first U.S. concert back in 1978. “I remember every little club we played all over the Northeast of America,” Sting explains in the episode pictured (above). “And I’m glad I did. I’m so grateful. It builds backbone. It builds some kind of psychological armor.”

When Johnson and fellow AC/DC legend Angus Young visited the Stern Show in 1997, they put on a memorable performance of their own, delivering a stripped-down, live version of their hit “You Shook Me All Night Long” for Howard and his listeners. Watch their in-studio performance (below).

More recently, the AC/DC frontman’s name came up on the Stern Show during a conversation between Howard and comedian Jim Breuer during which Jim revealed that his good buddy Brian is not only a gifted singer but he’s also a “naturally funny” person who would excel at stand-up comedy. “Next to my dad, he’s hands down one of the greatest guys I’ve ever known,” Breuer further explained.
