VIDEO: James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal Ring in 1985 With Booze, Cash, and X-Rated Videos in ‘The Deuce’ Season 3 Teaser

Home video turns the porn business on its head in the first teaser for the third and final season of HBO’s titillating drama “The Deuce,” starring Stern Show veterans James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

The short preview (above) begins with another jump forward in time—it’s the eve of 1985 and the two have plenty of reason to celebrate as X-rated video shops have popped up all over town. Everyone is making more money than they can count, and celebrating accordingly. “These tapes are the next big thing,” one character explains over a montage of sizzling porn shoots, wild rock videos, and plenty of ubiquitously ‘80s fashion.

James and Maggie’s cash cow may be headed for the slaughterhouse, however, as the city threatens to clamp down on the porn industry to make the city more attractive to investors and developers . “I got a project that could actually turns Times Square around,” another character ominously declares.

Co-created by David Simon and George Pelecanos of “The Wire” fame, “The Deuce” also stars Margarita Levieva, David Krumholtz, Daniel Sauli, Olivia Luccardi, Lawrence Gilliard Jr., and Sepideh Moafi in addition to Maggie and James.

“The Deuce” Season 3 debuts Monday, Sept. 9 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
