VIDEO: Tina Fey Takes Her Husband to Couples Counseling on Date Night in ‘Modern Love’ Official Trailer
Romantic-comedy anthology series also stars Anne Hathaway, John Slattery, Catherine Keener, and Andy Garcia, among many others
September 12, 2019There’s plenty of sex, laughter, tears, awkwardness, and even child birthing to go around in the official trailer for “Modern Love,” John Carney’s (“Sing Street”) romantic-comedy anthology series coming to Amazon Prime Video in October.
Based on a weekly New York Times column of the same name, the show features an ensemble cast that includes Oscar-winner Anne Hathaway, Andy Garcia (“Book Club”), Andrew Scott, (“Fleabag”), Sofia Boutella (“The Mummy”), Catherine Keener (“Get Out”), Julia Garner (“Ozark”), Dev Patel (“Slumdog Millionaire”), and Wrap Up Show veteran Shea Whigham (“Homecoming”), among others.
Stern Show veteran Tina Fey and “Mad Men” mainstay John Slattery also star on one episode as a married couple whose idea of date night includes visiting a couples counselor. At one point in the trailer (above), Fey’s daughter hurls a tennis ball at her son’s genitals, causing him to double over in pain.
“I didn’t mean to hit him in the penis. I meant to hit him in the balls,” the girl tells her mom.
“That’s great,” Fey’s character responds.
This isn’t Tina’s first onscreen romance. During a 2016 visit to the Stern Show, she told Howard all about what it’s like to make love on camera as well as why she turned down a play which would’ve required her to appear nude on stage. Listen to a clip from the interview (below).
“Modern Love” debuts Oct. 18 on Amazon Prime Video.
