Stern Show guests’ prank call series returns to Comedy Central on Sept. 25
August 15, 2019It’s a dangerous time to answer the phone.
Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Carolla’s prank call show “Crank Yankers” will return to Comedy Central on Sept. 25. The date was revealed this week along with a puppet-filled trailer promising contributions from Stern Show guests Tracy Morgan, Sarah Silverman, Kathy Griffin, David Alan Grier, Bobby Moynihan, Nikki Glaser, Jeff Ross, Kevin Nealon, and more as well as Jimmy and Adam themselves.
The show, which features puppets reenacting phony phone calls, first debuted on Comedy Central in 2002. Since then it’s aired four seasons, the last of which ran in 2007 on MTV 2. In February, Comedy Central announced it had ordered another 20 episodes and updated the format to include pranks pertaining to social media, e-sports, and more.
Fans can expect the return of several infamous puppets and a ton of celebrity guests, including Tiffany Haddish, Will Forte, Abbi Jacobson, Lil Rel Howery, Aubrey Plaza, Chelsea Peretti, and Wrap Up Show veterans Nick Kroll and Paul Scheer. Adam and Jimmy will once again executive produce the series alongside fellow co-creator Daniel Kellison. Jimmy’s younger brother Jonathan Kimmel will serve as showrunner.
Jimmy and Adam both spoke about the “Crank Yankers” revival during recent Stern Show visits. In May, Adam revealed he and Jimmy wouldn’t be making all of the phony phone calls personally but said they would certainly still be involved in the process. “Chef Boyardee didn’t make every ravioli himself, but he oversaw the kitchen. You see what I’m saying?” Adam told Howard.
