John Legend, Foo Fighters, Gary Clark Jr., and Beck to Perform at All-Star Grammy Tribute Concert for Prince
Chris Martin, Alicia Keys, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Usher are also taking stage at the Jan. 28 event

Past Stern Show guests John Legend, Foo Fighters, Gary Clark Jr., and Beck will honor one of music’s most beloved icons later this month with performances at “Let’s Go Crazy: The Grammy Salute to Prince.”
The star-studded tribute event will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Jan. 28—two days after the 2020 Grammys—and will be broadcast in April. Other featured performers include fellow Stern Show veterans Usher and Chris Martin as well as Alicia Keys, Earth, Wind & Fire, Common, Juanes, St. Vincent, H.E.R., and Mavis Staples.
Prince’s former band the Revolution will also perform as well as Susanna Hoffs of the Bangles, whose ubiquitous single “Manic Monday” was penned by Prince. Prince’s longtime collaborator Sheila E. serves as musical director for the event, along with Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam. “I was very honored to be able to do this for so many reasons, but to be able to help celebrate the life of a dear friend and be a part of this and be musical director is awesome,” Sheila E. told Rolling Stone.
Prince, who passed away in 2016, isn’t the first musician to get a “Grammy Salute” concert. Other artists previously earning the distinction include Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, and the Beatles.
While the full “Let’s Go Crazy” setlist hasn’t yet been announced, the two-hour event seems likely to include many of Prince’s most well-known hits. In the meanwhile, Stern Show fans can take another look at Adam Levine’s epic cover of “Purple Rain” at Howard’s 2014 Birthday Bash (below).
